One of my most rewarding endeavors is mentoring and educating the next generation of botanists and researchers. Beginning in 2003, I instructed approximately 150 students each year in Plant Identification (BZ223) at Colorado State University. I was fortunate to see many of these students pursue graduate degrees and careers in botany or natural resource management. In recognition of my teaching efforts, I twice received a faculty and staff award by the Department of Biology at Colorado State University for excellence in undergraduate mentoring and teaching. Although I am no longer an instructor at CSU, I continue to educate on the flora of Colorado through workshops, field trips, and speaking engagements.
I am passionate about student success, creating an inclusive community of students, and providing opportunities for all students, including non-traditional students and students of diversity, to pursue their academic goals.
